THE BOLOS HOUSE
Although almost monotone, this minimalist house isn't boring nor a luxury item. It's not just about having more space to live and experience because of being airy. It is also neither too cozy to resonate a contemporary appeal. The concrete, vegetation, and glass have represented this concept remarkably along with wooden textures and accents. Being almost one with nature has never been this achievable through pocket gardens and large glass panel windows.

THE BAMBOO RESORT
The newest highlight in the Island of Cabilao is now underway! February 22, 2022 was the official groundbreaking of the 200 sqm, two-floor building with a 20-seating capacity Seafood restaurant on the 1st floor and a 3-bedroom residential area on the 2nd floor. This project will showcase local materials of Bohol and aims to create more jobs and boost tourism in the Island!

BACKPACKERS PLACE
Favorably located in Panglao - the home of white sand and clear waters, this proposed building embodies a humble abode for the travelers and backpackers visiting the alluring island of Bohol. This tenantable building is roughly located facing the northwestern direction and entered through two adjoining structure stationed near the foot of its lot. It showcase low pitch roofing systems that leans towards the firewall. Its façade is settled with double roof brackets, considerably large windows, wide voladas and louvers that allows the fluent breezy course of wind. Embellished on its front is the dipping pool of ample size for lounging and cooling off.

A new addition to the boosting Municipality of Tubigon, Bohol is the imminent subdivision that aims to provide quality comfort and experience among clients. BUNGALOW HOUSE
BUKIDNON, Philippines - a new addition to the firm’s project is a bungalow-inspired residential dwelling, conceptualized as to blur the built structure to its environmental set-up. Specific spaces, like the living room and entranceway, are extended to increase the comfort of the client; two additional bedrooms, one of which is the master bedroom, are added as part of the extension; also, the garage is corrected to accommodate a better parking space. The overall design aims to not only optimize the given spaces with respect to its precedent, but also correlate the end-result from its environmental setting, through the provision of porches – a perfect place to bond amongst family members alongside nature. The result is a home emanating a sense of tranquility, homey yet modern, simple yet sophisticated.

THE CUBE RESORT
Modern plans present rectangular exteriors, flat or slanted roof-lines, and super straight lines. Large expanses of glass (windows, doors, etc) often appear in modern house plans and help to aid in energy efficiency as well as indoor/outdoor flow. This clean 6-bedroom plan sports a monochromatic color scheme and stand in stark contrast to a more traditional design. It's all about personal taste. D’ Backpackers’ Barn!
Digal Architect and Builders kicks-off October with a new addition to its portfolio – D’ Backpackers’ Barn! Situated at Alona, Panglao, Bohol, D’ Backpackers’ Barn is a 12-bedroom lodging place suited for travellers seeking a plain yet comfortable accommodation. Guests are welcome by the open ambience of the location; emanating a country-vibe from the rustic design, they are able to unwind and enjoy a more peaceful and lay-back environment made perfect for a vacation stay. The reception area is easily spotted at the left corner of the cottage located just below the stairway. The first floor comprises of six (6) bedrooms inclusive of toilet and bath; the openness and rural-inspired concept of the design allow an organic sense to the place, adding a quiet peace necessary of a simple yet relaxing stay. Accessible through two sets of wooden staircase, opposite each other, is the second (2nd) floor – the primary extension of the project – with similar spaces of the ground floor; D’ Barn also offers good meals among visitors that are serve at the balcony; such space is a good venue not only for relaxation but interaction among them, a great opportunity to make friends and memories. It is only a 10-minute walk to the renowned Alona Beach, where a myriad of people await.
SINGLE STOREY 3 BEDROOM HOUSE
Amidst the attraction of modern trends, their nearly sterile neatness, although also convenience, we cannot deny some rooted yearnings, what the Filipino family's spirit looks for in a place that is to be called home. Some of us find it in nostalgic elements - a familiar dormer roof, a warm porch, or even a particular ground covering. We cannot explain why those put us in a child-like comfort but they do. Such sense, probably is one of some that inspired the world of architecture having been recently in a bit of a craze over juxtaposition. Digal Architects and builders celebrates such nostalgia of a Filipino home while incorporating the obvious reasonability of modern materials. The result is not exactly juxtaposition that focuses on the contrast of individual details against each other. Instead, we put them together to work with each other, where the differences are blurred by the harmony of the whole. More like syncretism. #sooninTubigon

THE MERMAID HOUSE
Dubbed by some as "The Mermaid House", because of its vision along the coastline of Garcia Hernandez attempts to reconcile the commercially-inclined idea of renting rooms out for public use with the prestige of private residence. The proposed structure sits on a narrow site, is entered through Bohol Circumferencial Road and comes out into the shoreline. The private residence is entered through a staircase, subtly separated from the pathway of the rentable rooms. It is navigated through circulation paths positioned along the southwest facade, so that the most habitable spaces, such as its 3 bedrooms, are located on the northeast side, enjoying morning sunshine and avoiding the afternoon glare. The 5 rentable rooms downstairs are provided with generous porch frontage despite the site's slender width, retaining a very Filipino custom of "tambay sa pantaw"; though, these are only best used in the early hours of the day and in the evening. The ample space of the balcony and roof deck is probably what inspires the "mermaid" nickname - it is washed with an unobstructed view of the calming sea.

What can you do with a shipping container? Contrary to what it looks like, a simple and boring shipping container transforms into a stunning cafe with a design that allows maximum space and assures minimal and easy execution. Incorporated with louvers on the opposite ends of its wide front, this design provides breezy and cool ambience.

DIGAL ARCHITECT AND BUILDERS was founded by the proprietor Architect Erven B. Digal on July 18, 2014. As a start-up, it initially had a single staff and a confined office space with limited clientele. However, with hard work and determination and having customer satisfaction as its core, the Company flourished into what it is today. Currently, it has 5 staffs and 3 apprentices with Architect Erven B. Digal at the helm. Their combined expertise and personal attention make for an enjoyable and commendable design process.

As a space intended for the use of the general public, Residential Building is one of our favorite projects. In our view, it is the perfect combination of design and practicality.
REST HOUSE
Look at those window walls!! This is our actual finished project situated in the heart of Camotes Island, Cebu. To fully consume the space, we decided to do a little elevation. At night, the owner will appreciate the cozy and relaxing island breeze as it conditions the entire house. At day time, everyone will feel the fresh and green surroundings! CONGRATULATIONS Digal Architect and Builders for bagging 6th PLACE and taking the PGBH EMPLOYEE’s CHOICE AWARD for the recently concluded PGBh Employees Village Design Contest. To everyone who helped us along the way, we are extremely thankful for all your help. The Design Our design theme is concentrated into one word, “Handuraw”, from the local dialect. Translated as “reminisce” in English, the design approach aims to draw back from the past. The Handuraw Houses are inspired by a typical Boholano house from the 1900s where we bring back pinsa, guwa, ang-ang and lukob back to the present. The key is to find the balance while incorporating the charm of the traditional house into now modern standards of construction, in the most efficient and most effective way possible.
